Your Budget Guide

“Your Budget Guide” is a comprehensive source of information about Sarasota County property taxes and the county budget. Sarasota County is committed to financial responsibility and accountability. As part of that commitment, the Sarasota County Commission wants citizens to be informed about the county’s budget process, the sources of revenue and the spending priorities the commission determines with public input.

“Your Budget Guide” also has links to the current 2007 county operational and capital budgets, current budgets for county departmental operations and budgets for previous years. You can also see how property taxes are calculated, how they are allocated and view the county’s share of tax revenue. Sarasota County is preparing a proposed budget for 2008 but must wait for action by a special legislative session scheduled for June 12-22. The legislature is considering proposals that will significantly affect the property tax revenue used to fund programs, services and capital improvement projects.
